Ministry of Public Works Is Investigating the Case of Two Trains Colliding on Sihanoukville Yesterday

SIHANOUKVILLE : The Ministry of Public Works and Transport is collecting information and investigating the case of a train collision in Sihanoukville on Tuesday, which caused two drivers to be injured and sent to hospital.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Kong Vimean, told EAC News that the Royal Railway team and authorities in Sihanoukville were now inspecting and gathering information on the accident. He was unable to provide other details since the Ministry is still waiting for the team to finish the investigation.

The spokesman said, "The train company also sent officials to work with the local authorities during the evening and this morning, so I have results yet that I can share. I am sorry.”

The train collision occurred on Tuesday at 1 PM between two trains travelling from Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh. The trains collided in near 3 villages in Commune 3, Sihanoukville, and caused some damage including the overturn of many train containers. The two train drivers were injured and taken to hospital, and the full cost of the damage is not yet known.
